How we write our guides
Our insurance guides explain what cover generally does, what it costs and what the rules are, so you know what to ask a broker. This is how we put them together.
Our standards.
- Every figure has a source Prices, limits and rules come from a named, dated source, such as an insurer’s policy document, a regulator, a government site or a broker’s published data. Each guide lists its sources, numbered where they’re used.
- Rules from official sites Legal requirements, such as CTP schemes and the insurance a licence needs, are checked on the regulator’s or government’s own site.
- Estimates are labelled Where no official figure exists, we say so, and show other businesses’ published estimates with who published them and when. They’re a guide to the range, not a quote.
- General information only We explain how insurance generally works. We don’t recommend a policy, an insurer or an amount of cover. For advice about your situation, talk to a licensed or authorised insurance broker.
- Dated Each guide shows the date it was last updated, and its sources show the dates they were published.
- Independent of brokers Our guides are written by the COVRA team. Brokers don’t pay to appear in them or to shape what they say. See how COVRA works.
